Project Non – Hit Car and Truck

Volvo Truck, together with Volvo Cars, are in phase a new project: Non - Hit Car and Trucks.  This project aims to improvethe protection of pedestrians and cyclists, located in trucks surrounding. The vehicle will be equipped with a system for providing the ambient scanning within 360°. The system, with sensors, cameras and radars installed on all sides of the vehicle, collects and analyzes data on the vehicle surroundings. Next, the system suggests what the driver should to do to avoid an accident. If the driver does not take any action, steering and braking systems will be activate automatically. This function will allow to reduce amount of road accidents, caused by poor visibility. Non - Hit Car and Truck should be available on the market within 5 to 10 years.
